David C. Blittersdorf
CEO/President
As the founder of NRG Systems, a leading manufacturer of
wind measuring technology, David Blittersdorf is no
stranger to the wind energy industry. In 1982 when he
founded NRG Systems, the wind energy industry was just
in its infancy. But David’s interest in wind actually
began many years earlier. As a child, he grew up near
the site of the world’s first commercial wind
turbine in Pittsford, Vermont. As a teen, his early
driving years were hampered by the gas shortages of
the Arab Oil Embargo. (He began tinkering with model
wind turbines for fun.) During his senior year of college,
he built a home wind turbine for his engineering project.
As
CEO/president for AllEarth Renewables, David brings his engineering
expertise, wind industry knowledge and his passion for creating
clean energy solutions to homeowners everywhere.
David is board member and treasurer of the Small Wind
Certification Corporation (SWCC), a non-profit formed
to develop industry-wide small wind turbine standards.
He is executive board member, treasurer and past president
of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), and
executive board member, founding member and past chair
of Renewable Energy Vermont (REV). David is also on
the Board of Advisors for the University of Vermont
Rubenstein School of Natural Resources, the Vermont
Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC), and the Union
of Concerned Scientists. Blittersdorf is on the Board
of Advisors for the SUNY-Canton Engineering School,
and is a board member of Vermont Public Interest Research
Group (VPIRG). He is a University of Vermont graduate
with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
David and his wife Jan have a son, Evan, and a daughter,
Alyssa. In his spare time, Blittersdorf enjoys the wind
for yet another activity: hang gliding. |
