Jeff Chapman
Field Technician
Jeff first learned about wind energy while attending
grammar school when an old wind-powered gristmill in
his home town of Fairfield, Connecticut was renovated.
The blades of the windmill were never installed, but
Jeff’s interest in wind energy was ignited by
the project.
With more than two decades in the commercial and residential
building trades, Jeff brings seasoned design and building
experience to Earth Turbines.
Jeff enjoys living the country life in Huntington with
his wife where they spend time outdoors and maintaining
their home. During the winter months, Jeff can be found
backcountry skiing through the woods of Vermont (and
stoking his woodstove). In the summer, Jeff enjoys hiking,
mountain biking and sailing on Lake Champlain.
Before joining Earth Turbines, Jeff worked for Renaissance
Builders as a general carpenter specializing in building
high-end custom homes. Prior to that Jeff worked as
an installer for two different companies that produced
interior store fixtures. One assignment had him on the
road for up to a month at a time installing kiosks at
various branches of NationsBank. On another, he led
a small crew putting in the shelving and other components
of Discovery Channel stores. Both of these assignments
required him to be a good communicator and find creative
solutions to various unforeseen problems.
Jeff has previously performed field work for Earth
Turbines, and is very excited to now be a permanent
part of the team. His wife, Julia Austin, has been with
NRG Systems for more than 15 years. They are now very
happy to further their mission of reducing their impact
on the earth by commuting to work together.
