What is Green Energy?

Life Cycle Analysis
Life Cycle Analysis is a process used to
evaluate the environmental burdens for a product, process, or
activity by identifying energy and materials used and wastes
released to the environment, and to evaluate and implement opportunities
to affect environmental improvements. (The Society of Environmental
Toxicology and Chemistry, SETAC, 1990) More information on life
cycle analysis and its specific use in evaluating the impact
of energy production is available at SETAC, the Energy and Climate
Protection Division of the Öko-Institut
- Institute for Applied Ecology, Darmstadt, Germany, and the Power
Scorecard, a rating mechanism that assesses the environmental impact
of different types of electric generation.
